2010-ųjų metų geriausias menininkas J. Zalensas
Kauno miesto savivaldybės meras Andrius Kupčinskas ir dienraščio „Kauno dienos" redakcijos atstovai lankėsi skulptoriaus ir tapytojo Jūračio Zalenso namuose. Čia jam buvo įteiktos dovanos: „Kauno dienos" dienraščio prenumeratos kvitas visiems metams ir Kauno miesto savivaldybės dovana - 3000 litų dovanų čekis tapybos reikmenims įsigyti galerijoje „Meno parkas".

„Sveikiname jus, tapusį Kauno metų menininku, linkime geros sveikatos, geros nuotaikos, vilties ir daug kūrybinių sumanymų", - sakė meras A. Kupčinskas.

Dailininkas Jūratis Zalensas „Kauno dienos" meno priedo „Santaka" skelbtuose rinkimuose surinko net 2050 balsų ir tapo Kauno metų menininku.

Į Kauno metų menininko titulą pretendavo 10 kauniečių ir vienas visuomeninis judėjimas. Už jiems labiausiai patikusį menininką balsavo portalo www.kaunodiena.lt skaitytojai.

Kauno metų menininko titulą 58-erių metų dailininkas pateko po vasarą savo sode surengtos parodos. Ji ženklina dailininko sugrįžimą į tapybą.

Prieš šešerius metus patirta sudėtinga širdies kraujagyslių operacija, ją lydėjęs insultas ir trys mėnesiai komos prikaustė dailininką prie neįgaliųjų vežimėlio. Nuo to laiko Eigulių mikrorajone gyvenantis J. Zalensas nevaikšto, iš namų neišeina, mažai bendrauja. Telieka vežimėlis ir sodas prie privataus namelio.

Sužinojęs, kad atsidūrė tarp kandidatų į metų menininko titulą, J.Zalensas džiaugėsi, jog nėra pamirštas. Kelerius metus po insulto dailininkas visiškai netapė, tačiau dabar jau dirba ir planuoja surengti antrą tapybos parodą savo sode.

Dailininko kambaryje pastatytas molbertas, prie jo su vežimėliu privažiuoja tada, kai geresnė savijauta ir kai jaučia, kad nori savo mintis išreikšti drobėje. Atvykusiems svečiams dailininkas parodė paskutinius darbus, padėkojo už dovanas ir sveikinimus.

Dailininką globoja jo žmonos motina Elena Palšauskienė, kuri turi savo namus kaime, norėtų ten gyventi, bet supranta, kad be jos Jūratis negalėtų susitvarkyti savo buities, todėl gyvena Kaune.

Apie uošvienių ir žentų bendravimą sukurta daug anekdotų, tačiau šiuo atveju Jūratis ir Elena vienas apie kitą atsiliepia tik gerai.
