LR Prezidentė skleidžia teigiamą Lietuvos NVO patirtį
Lietuvos Respublikos Prezidentė priėmė Jungtinių Amerikos Valstijų ambasadorę ypatingiems pavedimams Melanne Verveer, kuri JAV Prezidento Baracko Obamos administracijoje kuruoja su moterų teisėmis ir lyčių lygybe susijusius klausimus.

Po susitikimo Prezidentė dalyvavo naujai steigiamos Demokratijų bendrijos lyčių lygybės darbo grupės posėdyje. Jame Lietuvos valstybės vadovė kaip svarbų faktą įvertino tai, kad Jungtinės Valstijos Lietuvą pasirinko pagrindine savo partnere moterų teisėms bei lyčių lygybei pasaulyje skleisti bei propaguoti, ir užtikrino, jog Lietuva dės visas įmanomas pastangas kuriant Demokratijos bendrijų lyčių lygybės darbo grupę ir plečiant jos veiklą.

Prezidentės teigimu, vykdant šiuos projektus, aktyviai prisidės ir Lietuvos nevyriausybinės organizacijos, kurios jau turi daug patirties, įgytos vykdant bendrus lyčių lygybės projektus Baltarusijoje, Kaliningrade, Azerbaidžane ir Ukrainoje.

„Nuoširdžiai linkiu, kad šios grupės įsteigimas ir vėlesni susitikimai taptų ne tik diskusijų, bet ir konkrečių bendrų projektų įgyvendinimo pagrindu. Tikiuosi, kad visus šios dienos susitikimo dalyvius pamatysiu Vilniuje 2011 metų liepą, kai aukšto lygio susitikime „Moterys ir demokratija" bus aptariami jau pasiekti rezultatai. Linkiu gero darbo", - palinkėjo Prezidentė Dalia Grybauskaitė.

Naujai įsteigta darbo grupė, kuriai Lietuva pirmininkaus kartu su JAV, inicijuos nacionalinius, regioninius ir dvišalius projektus moterų lyderiavimui, verslumui skatinti, moterų teisėms ginti bei kovoti su smurtu ir jėgos naudojimu prieš moteris.
