Prezidentė Dalia Grybauskaitė pas Popiežių Benediktą XVI
Vatikane įvyko LR Prezidentės Dalios Grybauskaitės audiencija pas Romos Popiežių Benediktą XVI. Valstybės vadovė padėkojo už Šv. Sosto Lietuvos aneksijos nepripažinimo politiką sovietmečiu, pakvietė Šventąjį Tėvą atvykti į mūsų šalį.

„Popiežius Benediktas XVI galvoja apie Lietuvą, sveikina visus su artėjančiomis Šv. Kalėdomis ir laimina Lietuvos žmones. Malonu šią žinią išgirsti Advento laikotarpiu ir džiaugiuosi tai perduodama mūsų žmonėms", - sakė Dalia Grybauskaitė.

Su Benediktu XVI Prezidentė aptarė Katalikų Bažnyčios vaidmenį valstybės gyvenime, bendražmogiškų vertybių stiprinimą politikoje, aktualius tarptautinės politikos klausimus - migraciją, kovą su korupcija, ekonominę ir socialinę politiką, bendradarbiavimą plėtojant civilizacijų dialogą.
 
„Lietuva remia Švento Sosto pastangas skatinti civilizacijų dialogą, stiprinti toleranciją tarp skirtingas religines konfesijas išpažįstančių tikinčiųjų. Vilnius, kuriame nuo seno taikiai sugyveno įvairios religinės bendruomenės, yra ideali vieta ekumeniniam dialogui tarp Romos katalikų ir Rusijos ortodoksų bažnyčių vadovų", - kalbėjo Prezidentė Dalia Grybauskaitė.
 
Pasak šalies vadovės, kitais metais Lietuvai pirmininkaujant ESBO sutarta stiprinti bendradarbiavimą skatinant religinę toleranciją, pagarbą žmogaus teisėms, kovą su diskriminacija ir prekyba žmonėmis.
 
Prezidentė Dalia Grybauskaitė taip pat susitiko su Šventojo Sosto Valstybės sekretoriumi kardinolu Tarcisio Bertone.
